What's New in GIS Portal Toolkit 9.3
We are pleased to announce the availability of the GIS Portal Toolkit (GPT) 9.3. The entire team has worked hard to make this a quality release that meets your needs and those of your clients.
New for All Users
- An updated user interface is included.
- ArcIMS is no longer required. A metadata server dll is included out of the box.
- Authentication is made through LDAP.
- GPT 9.3 uses ArcGIS Server REST API for search map and place finder.
- The new Java ADF map viewer supports OGC service types as well as GeoRSS feeds and comes with expanded query and markup functionality.
- Searching occurs through OGC catalog service interface.
- GPT 9.3 provides a REST interface for searching that supports GeoRSS, KML.
- Data extraction service is included for downloading data for a resource, with the ability to specify an extent, projection, and download format.
- CS-W clients get extended profile support.
- Context-sensitive online help is available for all pages in the portal application.

- Extensible framework for metadata standard supportimplementers can define support for their preferred metadata standards or profiles.

New Functions for the Portal Administrator
- Harvesting enhancements include expanded profile support, a harvesting scheduler, and improved repository registration.
New for Developers and Implementers
In addition to the principal user functionality enhancements listed above, other major changes provided by GPT 9.3 include the following:
- There is more efficient custom configuration of each implementation of the portal. (This includes the movement of all text from code to resource files for easier translation of the portal interface and associated search functions.)
- Internationalization kit is included; its default language is English.
- Channel content for focused user communities can now be supported by integrating with a content management system.
- A vastly expanded documentation set in the areas of installation, customization, and usage documents is included.
