Tools for High-Volume Nautical Database Production

Nautical Solution is an extension to ArcGIS Desktop that allows you to efficiently manage nautical information, products, and integrated workflows, and generate high-quality electronic, hard-copy, and raster navigational products. You can create these products from a variety of sources such as hard-copy charts, digital data, bathymetric survey information, imagery, and various raster formats, using them to safely navigate waterways and to better understand maritime and oceanic environments.

Nautical Solution leverages a centralized database environment to help you produce and maintain standard Digital Nautical Chart (DNC) and Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) products as well as standards-compliant hardcopy nautical charts. You can streamline database editing, product maintenance, and quality control that support workflow management and high-volume S-57 compliant nautical chart production. Data for all products is managed in a geodatabase, with the option to connect products to a central enterprise geodatabase.

Along with the ability to create products, Nautical Solution contains DNC, ENC, and charting-specific utilities to help facilitate work flow and provide an efficient way to process data. These utilities include:

• Notice to Mariner input parsing for application of US NTM
• Management of topology and primitives for S-57 and VPF formats
• Relationship management tools for advanced nautical entity control
• Advanced query and edit tools tailored to nautical data
• Cartographic management of complex nautical symbols, labels, and chart elements

Nautical Solution also includes tools for quality control, cartographic product generation, and work flow management.
