LBS Developers Look to ESRI for a Competitive Edge in the NAVTEQ LBS Challenge
Location-based services (LBS) developers participating in the 2008 North America NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge gain a competitive edge using ESRI as their mobile solution development platform. ESRI is a sponsor for the LBS Challenge, an annual competition that provides developers with an opportunity to showcase their location-based solutions and win a variety of prizes including up to $50,000 in cash from NAVTEQ and data licenses from ESRI. Contest participants looking to build winning solutions can sign up for no-cost access to ArcWeb Services, ESRI's hosted Web services mapping and GIS application programming interfaces.

Information Builders Enters Worldwide OEM Agreement With ESRI
Information Builders, the leader in production business intelligence systems, announced that it has reached a worldwide OEM agreement with ESRI. Information Builders will now bundle ESRI ArcGIS Server along with its WebFOCUS business intelligence and iWay Software integration solutions. WebFOCUS and ArcGIS Server deliver location intelligence complete with tabular, graphic, and dashboard-based views of geographic information. The resulting solution gives users unprecedented capabilities to visualize information in the most intuitive formats.

GeoAnalytics Completes SDE GIS Data Migration System for Oneida County, Wisconsin
GeoAnalytics, Inc., an IT consulting firm that specializes in the planning, design, and implementation of enterprise-class, spatially enabled information systems, has completed an SDE GIS data migration system for Oneida County, Wisconsin. The project included the deployment of Microsoft SQL Server and ESRI ArcSDE and data migration to an enterprise geodatabase to aid in the support of the microDATA 911 CAD system. "This project represents a significant advancement in that we are now able to easily manage data editing among multiple editors and it provides for greater flexibility in publishing data for various applications", said Oneida County's Michael Romportl.

IBM Honors ESRI with Top Star Award for Being "Best of the Best"
IBM, the world leader in information technology, has named ESRI a recipient of its 2007 Public Sector Top Star Award for consistently demonstrating the "best of the best" business partner qualities. ESRI was recognized for forging a successful partnership with IBM, as well as building success in the marketplace, at IBM's PartnerWorld 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri. For nearly 20 years, ESRI has joined forces with IBM to deliver GIS solutions to problems in government, health care, education, and the life sciences.

Tele Atlas to Celebrate GIS Day
GIS Day is Wednesday, November 14, 2007. This global celebration is the perfect venue for GIS users to showcase inside and outside their organizations why geography matters to everyone.

As a leading provider of GIS data and services, Tele Atlas will celebrate GIS Day by volunteering at local schools to talk with students about the practical uses for GIS and geography. Presentations will focus on real-world applications and be tailored to elementary school, middle school, and high school audience levels. Additionally, recent college graduates employed by Tele Atlas will return to their alma maters and partner with geography professors and students to share real-life examples of the career opportunities available at Tele Atlas for students earning geography degrees.

PhillyHistory Mobile Uses GIS to Guide Virtual Tours of Philadelphia's Past
PhillyHistory Mobile gives Philadelphia residents and visitors the ability to access more than 41,800 historic and cultural photos with simply a cell phone or wireless Internet-equipped device. The new, innovative, geographically searchable mobile Web site, built on ESRI's ArcGIS Server and ArcIMS software, has an easy-to-use search screen where users can enter an address, intersection, keyword, or historic date for nearby historic or cultural sites. The resulting display returns a map of the area showing coordinates for various historic and cultural assets in close proximity, accompanied by photos of those assets.

Charleston County, South Carolina, Deploys GIS for Improved Emergency Medical Services Response
Charleston County, South Carolina, selected ESRI software-based Mobile Area Routing and Vehicle Location Information System (MARVLIS) from Bradshaw Consulting Services, Inc. (BCS), an ESRI business partner, to improve routing and response in the county's emergency medical services. The solution replaces previous paper-based methods to provide faster and more accurate vehicle tracking and routing, ultimately supplying better service to those in need. MARVLIS uses ESRI technologies including ArcView and ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, NetEngine, and MapObjects.

New Web Site Maps Nationwide High School Graduation Data
A new online mapping engine puts graduation data in front of educators, administrators, policy makers, and parents across the country. The Editorial Projects in Education Research Center has issued a groundbreaking report called Diplomas Count and worked with ESRI to produce the EdWeek Maps Web site. The site uses ESRI's ArcWeb Services to provide graduation data at the district level and compare school districts and states across the nation at no cost.

Bridge Reroute Application Helps Minneapolis Cope with Disaster
Government Technology, October 1, 2007 - Using the ArcWeb Services Flex API, ESRI quickly put together a dynamic Web application that allowed city planners to define barriers and allowed commuters to see updates and create new routes with an option to print.

Easing Air Traffic at LAX Is a Plan with a Few Glitches [PDF]
Los Angeles Times, September 10, 2007 - The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has the second-highest number of people living within a 25-mile radius, according to ESRI. As one of the busiest airports in Southern California, the area is looking to ease air traffic by expanding other airports.
