The Geographic Approach Takes Center Stage at Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference

ESRI Will Demonstrate How ArcGIS Helps Utilities, Agencies, and First Responders Transform Knowledge into Results

Redlands, California—ESRI will highlight ArcGIS Server, the productive way to share your geographic information system (GIS) across your enterprise, at the Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference 31 in Seattle, Washington, March 9–12, 2008.

The conference, hosted by the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), will feature technical sessions, seminars, and a products and services exhibition. Peers, experts, and thought leaders will come together to tackle topics of interest to executives and managers in government agencies and electric, gas, water/wastewater, telecommunications, emergency management, and pipeline companies.

"This is the premier conference for the application of GIS for utilities, and we are pleased that the reach has broadened to embrace other industry managers and emergency responders," said ESRI president Jack Dangermond. "ESRI solutions dramatically improve operational efficiency and work processes while lowering the cost of logistics for utilities and agencies of all sizes."

With focused, easy-to-use applications, ArcGIS Server makes vital information accessible from the boardroom to the field. Staff members in all departments and in the field can query accurate, up-to-date information such as maps, models, and tools.

Throughout the conference, ESRI will demonstrate how the geographic approach helps companies transform knowledge into results. The ArcGIS family of products includes

  • ArcGIS Server–Become more productive by sharing your GIS across the enterprise with focused, easy-to-use applications. Meet asset management challenges and operational needs. Integrate spatial knowledge into the IT mainstream and make geographic intelligence available via the Web and mobile and desktop clients. ArcGIS Server is a server-based GIS that comes with out-of-the-box, end-user applications and services for spatial data management, visualization, and spatial analysis.
  • ArcGIS Desktop–The software allows you to discover patterns, relationships, and trends in your data that are not readily apparent in databases, spreadsheets, or statistical packages. Manage and integrate data, perform advanced analysis, model and automate operational processes, and display your results on professional-quality maps.
  • ArcGIS Mobile–Developers create centrally managed, lightweight, GIS-focused applications for mobile clients. Mobile applications powered by ArcGIS Server contribute to increased field productivity and more informed personnel. ArcGIS Mobile features a software developer kit (SDK) that is installed as part of ArcGIS Server. It can be used to create and deploy focused mobile applications that can operate in a connected or disconnected environment. Using the SDK, developers can build geocentric applications that provide basic GIS functionality including map display and navigation, GPS support, and GIS editing. The SDK can also be used to enhance existing nonspatial line-of-business applications, such as customer relationship management and field service automation systems, with geospatial capabilities.
  • ESRI Community Data–Demographic, consumer expenditure, segmentation, and business data can help companies and organizations analyze markets, profile customers, evaluate competitors, and more. ESRI Community Data is available as part of ArcGIS Business Analyst Server, ArcGIS Business Analyst (desktop), ArcGIS Business Analyst Segmentation Module (desktop add-on), and Business Analyst Online.
  • ArcGIS Online–Access 2D maps, 3D globes, reference layers, and functional tasks via the Web to support your GIS work. Contribute your own data for publishing through ArcGIS Online and make it broadly available to other users. Purchase the data you see in ArcGIS Online through the ArcGIS Data Appliance and publish it with your own ArcGIS Server.

ESRI partners offering extended applications, solutions, and services for the infrastructure community will also be exhibiting at the conference. Stop by the ESRI booth for a map to this community of thought leaders. The ESRI team will be at booth 609. For more information, visit www.esri.com/gita.
