2009 ESRI International User Conference (ESRI UC)

2008 GIS in Action Video Contest

Winners Announced

Winners James Mallory and Mike Morrison (center)
with Steve Trammell and
Diana Dittemore, ESRI

Congratulations to the very first GIS in Action Video Contest winners

The two winning teams produced entertaining and intriguing videos that creatively demonstrated the use of GIS in very different ways.

So difficult was the decision in selecting a winner, that a tie vote between the ESRI judges yielded awarding two first place prizes which included a Magnabrite magnifying glass page viewer, ESRI Map Book, ESRI 2Gb flash drive, ESRI cap, and an ESRI mini mouse.

Read more about the winning creations on the ESRI UC Blog.

In "Due South," the McKinney husband and wife team used 3D animation to depict GIS in action for infrastructure and environmental projects.

In "Tracing the Trails," colleagues from the Oklahoma County Assessor show how GIS and historic maps were used to determine the Chisholm Trail route.

Be sure to try your hand at directing a GIS film next year. GIS is a powerful technology quietly changing the ways people live and view their communities, organizations, and world. Create a video to share your workplace application or an artistic rendition of GIS.
